UFO
Monitor
"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird!
It's a plane! No, it's mostly meteors…"
Well, I'm not really looking for UFO's, but it would be fun to see
one (if they exist). Nope, what I am looking for are bright meteors
and fireballs, and any other nocturnal atmospheric phenomena.
You know, things that go "FLASH!" in the night.
When I capture something interesting, I will post it here!
My Meteor Camera Set-up
I use a Watec 902H2 Ultimate 1/2" chip video camera with a Fujinon f/0.95 lens.
This mono camera is very sensitive and used a lot in security surveillance.
The camera is controlled by the UFOCapture software (by SonotaCo in Japan).
Using a separate workstation, to record the video directly to a hard
drive, the camera is constantly recording the night sky. When an event
is detected (i.e. meteor, UFO, etc.) the software will save the video clip,
or if no event is detected, the video is deleted, so as not to fill the
hard drive too fast. It is a very cool system! Check the SonotaCo website for
more information.

Okay, this is not a UFO. I have used all of my skills to determine it is in fact a spider.
This guy danced on my all-sky camera for a couple of nights before moving on.
This is a Sprite I captured on July 22, 2011 with my meteor camera.
Don't know what a Sprite is?
